3 Benefits of Being Thankful

Usually, good deeds produce good results. Thanking God is a good deed, so it logically follows that it should result in benefits to the grateful person

There are many benefits to being grateful to God but today I want to focus on just three.

Happiness

One of the biggest benefits is happiness. We can thank genuinely only when we are content. A content person is a happy person. Saying thank you can make you happy just as receiving thanks does. When you thank God as a habit, you actually become conscious of the numerous blessings you have received; this lifts up your spirits.

“The secret of happiness is to live moment by moment and to thank God for what He is sending us every day in His goodness.” St. Gianna Beretta Molla

Blessings

Secondly, gratitude attracts even more blessings; just as a magnet attracts iron - peace, protection, and defense against sin. To be honest, behind all the rat race and daily toil, don’t we all basically want peace of mind and safety (of mind, body and soul)?

“Tell God all your desires of every kind in prayer and petition shot through with gratitude, and the peace of God which is beyond our understanding will guard your hearts and your thoughts” Philippians 4:6

Improved Quality of Life

Finally, the third benefit of thanksgiving is - YOU; as a person, you will become more positive and optimistic. This not only improves your outlook on life but is also scientifically proven that people prefer the company of positive people. Your social life gets boosted, which in itself is a mother of so many other opportunities. Bottom line, in one way or another, your quality of life will improve.

In summary, gratitude is a life-enhancing technique. Don’t spend thousands of dollars to learn the secrets of a better life. Start by being thankful. Then see how it goes. Being grateful to God opens up the heavens and you will be showered upon by more favors from God.

This brings us to the end of the Thankfulness series where we read, Why should we be thankful, How to be thankfulWhat to be thankful for, and this article, The benefits of being thankful.
