By the second week of February, most people would have given up on their New Year resolutions, as per this article. What about you? Are you planning to give up too? Or already given up? Don't despair. Follow these tips to be among the 8% of people in this world who actually achieve their new year resolutions

In a previous article I mentioned a few New Year resolutions that you could make this year (it's still not late) but sticking to your resolutions is more difficult than making them. Hopefully, these tips will help you.

Before we begin, I’d like to ask you to please sign up to this blog for more insightful reading, by Liking our Facebook Page and clicking on the Sign-Up button there. Or by simply clicking the Sign-Up button below or on the sidebar. Thanks for your support, it keeps me motivated.

A few consistent habits and behaviors are all that is required to keep you on track to achieve anything that you have decided to. Here are some of these tips that you could use, in fact, some of them are habits that you can develop.

1. To achieve your New Year resolutions: Focus on a few meaningful ones

While making resolutions, settle on ones that are sustainable, add meaning to your life and are helpful to others too. These resolutions may not be easy to hang on to but the amount of satisfaction, joy, self-worth, and sense of achievement you derive from them, are themselves motivators. You will need lesser external motivation because self-less resolutions are self-motivating to a large extent.

2. To achieve your New Year resolutions: Seek the help of experts

I'm neither an expert in personality development nor a success coach. But I can point you to someone who helped me. I may not be seen as a big success by the wider world but I can testify that the techniques in The One Thing helped me to realize my goal of blogging and even now continues to motivate me to stick to it, after nearly 2 years. You can use this help for anything you want to achieve or succeed in.

Another resource is High Performance Habits. According to the author, six habits are all that is required to become extraordinary and thus lead a better quality life.

These two resources can help you in much bigger ways, not just achieving your New Year resolutions.

3. To achieve your New Year resolutions: Remember, we work in vain unless God blesses our efforts

As a practicing Catholic, I believe that our labor and hard work bears fruit only if God blesses it. I don't believe in luck. Whatever success you have achieved or accomplished so far is because God blessed you with health, finances, family, safety, security, intellect,  etc.

What can you do if you have a great job but suffering from vertigo, every week? Or if you have a fledgling business but bedridden with severe back issues? We may like to think it's “me” but actually, we achieve only if God wills. Same thing, with your resolutions. Place it at His disposal.

Matthew 6:33
“Set your hearts on his kingdom first, and on God’s saving justice, and all these other things will be given you as well”

Conclusion

January is almost coming to an end or probably ended by the time you read this article but it's never too late to make a resolution. Start your self-improvement journey now, by choosing meaningful goals, seeking expert help and most importantly, submitting your goals and effort to God. I don't see why you cannot achieve your resolutions or goals.
